Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025The DECK's Myakmyak Report vol.3
This is a follow-up blog to Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025The DECK's Myakmyak Report vol.2
A coworking space perspective on the World Expo—this time, we joined the night and daytime adventures!
■ Quick evening trip to the Expo on opening day
April 13, 2025—the Osaka-Kansai Expo finally opened! One of our team members, who got a Season Pass, couldn’t wait and headed to the venue right after closing up shop at The DECK.
Thanks to the super convenient location (just 23 minutes via the Osaka Metro Chuo Line from The DECK), visiting after work is totally doable.
Though it had rained earlier in the day, the skies cleared by evening and we even caught some fireworks!
■ First daytime visit: Meetings & strolling through pavilions
Day 3 of our back-to-back Expo visits—and our first time entering during the daytime!
We had a meeting inside the Expo grounds that day, so we entered around 11:30 AM.The wait time at the gate? Barely five minutes. The whole operation seems to be getting smoother by the day.
We even managed to hop on a Zoom call from inside the venue, confirming that yes—you can work from the Expo grounds!
We checked out some no-reservation pavilions, grabbed some food, and quickly realized: there’s no way to see it all in one day.
We soaked in the opening day excitement all the way until closing time.
(One-day tickets just aren’t enough... Everyone, let’s go for the full-pass and enjoy the Expo to the max!)
■The DECK supports behind-the-scenes Expo builds
Finally met him—one week after the Expo opened!
Who did we meet, you ask?
It was none other than the life-size statue of the world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt, on display at the Jamaica Pavilion in "Commons B," where countries from Africa and Latin America are gathered.
And here’s a fun fact: the signage behind the display was Made in The DECK!
It was designed by Jamaican creator Matthew McCarthy.
Just before the Expo opened, the Jamaica team sent us an email late at night. One of our staff replied first thing the next morning, and by the end of that very day, we had laser-cut the sign and delivered it to the Expo venue.
A classic example of The DECK’s hands-on support for makers and creators!
(Oh, and we’ve helped out a few other pavilions too—just a little behind the scenes!) The DECK FAB LAB.
■A plant factory at Expo... and at The DECK?
And here it is—the plant factory by SpiceCube, also installed at The DECK!
(This photo was taken inside the Healthcare Pavilion.)
The technology showcased at the Expo has already been tested and proven at The DECK.
We’ve set up a hydroponic plant factory right inside our coworking space and are growing fresh vegetables!
(By the way, the veggies grown in our coworking space are super fresh and unbelievably tasty!)
We’ve grown veggies right in our coworking space and shared the harvest with members. Who says you can’t have a salad and a startup in the same room?
We’ll wrap up this blog post under the Grand Roof Ring.
It’s hard to believe the Expo hasn’t even been open for a full month yet—it’s already buzzing with excitement!
We’ll keep sharing more Expo reports, so stay tuned and keep checking back!
