Osaka Castle Beer Garden Meetup Recap

Living as a digital nomad, or in a different country and culture in general, is challenging for many reasons. Sorting work and accommodation can certainly be difficult, but an often overlooked aspect is isolation; it’s hard to meet people when you work by yourself, after all. This is why, at The DECK, we aim to host meetup events to welcome and connect the wider digital nomad community to Osaka!

In celebration of World Digital Nomad Day, on August 8th, The DECK hosted a beer garden meetup at KKR Hotel Osaka. There, staff, members, and other participants enjoyed the extensive drink bar and buffet. We all enjoyed beer, sake, steak, gyoza, and more - Fumi’s (one of our community coordinators) son Kouichi was a big fan of the udon!

While a bit shy at first, we all got to discussing our work, life in Osaka, and the places we call home. It was so fun and interesting meeting people from so many walks of life and different countries!

We also joined more than 100 other digital nomads and coworking space users across Japan online. Fumi even gave a presentation!

Finally, we took in the view on the patio, which boasted an excellent view of Osaka Castle and the city skyline.

Overall, we all had a great time getting to know each other over drinks and food at the beer garden meetup!

Thank you to all who joined, and if you didn’t get the chance or want to keep connecting with the community, be sure to join us at our bento meetup event on 8/27 (more info here). See you all there!
