Digital Nomad Pop-Up Program in Kotohira~ Alt_ChiangMai×Kotori×The DECK ~
Join us this April 2025 for an unforgettable weekend of productivity, cultural immersion, and meaningful connections in the picturesque town of Kotohira, Japan!
We’ll be joined by seven digital nomads from Chiang Mai, Thailand, along with members of the Kotohira community.
Why Kotohira?
Nestled in the heart of Shikoku, Kotohira offers digital nomads an authentic Japanese experience, away from the hustle and bustle of major cities. Here's why Kotohira stands out:
Cultural Immersion: Home to the renowned Kotohira Shrine, also known as Konpira-san, the town is steeped in history and tradition. Visitors can attend annual Kabuki events, hosted in the oldest theatre in the country, and savour the local specialty—delicious udon noodles, for which the region is famous nationwide.
Warm Local Community: Kotohira's compact size fosters close-knit relationships, making it easy for visitors to connect with residents. The town actively welcomes digital nomads, aiming to create a place where they can live, not just stay. This emphasis on community integration ensures that newcomers feel like part of the family.
Scenic Beauty: Surrounded by rolling hills and dotted with serene temples, Kotohira is especially enchanting during Spring Season. The town's picturesque landscapes provide a tranquil backdrop for both work and leisure.
Convenient Access: Despite its serene setting, Kotohira is well-connected to major cities like Takamatsu. It's an ideal base for exploring nearby attractions such as Naoshima Island, known for its contemporary art museums, and the scenic Iya Valley. It’s also easily accessible from Osaka, making it a convenient destination for travelers.
Kotori Coworking & Hostel Kotohira
During your stay, you'll be accommodated at Kotori Coworking & Hostel Kotohira, a facility designed with digital nomads in mind. Opened in February 2024, Kotori offers:
Comfortable Living Spaces: Semi-private dormitory equipped with air conditioning, high-quality mattresses, and access to shared showers and toilets ensure a restful stay.
Fully Equipped Coworking Space: Available 24/7 for residents, the coworking area is furnished with high-speed Wi-Fi, private meeting rooms, and additional monitors, catering to all your professional needs.
Amenities: High-speed WiFi, communal kitchen, and on-site laundry and drying machines to ensure your stay is as convenient as possible.
Community Engagement: An on-site community manager facilitates interactions between guests and local residents, offering recommendations and assistance to enhance your experience.
Choosing Kotori means immersing yourself in a unique blend of cultural richness, community warmth, and natural beauty, all while maintaining the conveniences necessary for a productive remote work environment.
