Interning at The DECK: James Whitridge

Introduction

Hello! My name is James Whitridge and I am from Virginia, United States. I am currently attending George Mason University, pursuing a degree in Information Technology with a concentration in Cybersecurity. For my career, I hope to work in the cybersecurity field, as well as work with Artificial Intelligence. I am also interested in working abroad, as I love traveling and exploring new places. I will be interning with The DECK for the next six weeks, and I am very excited about this opportunity!

Outside of school, I currently work as a Substitute Teacher for my local county, teaching grades kindergarten through 12th grade. I recently finished a group project where my teammates and I analyzed and designed a new restaurant management system, so I hope to bring the skills I learned to The DECK!

Personally, I enjoy spending time outdoors whenever I have free time. I find myself going on hikes or taking day trips to the beach, very frequently. So, if anyone has any recommendations for places in the Kansai region, please feel free to let me know! I also enjoy trying new food and finding great spots. So far, Osaka has had great options, so if you have any recommendations, I am more than open to trying! I also look forward to attending the World Expo here in Osaka, during my stay.

I am truly excited to start interning at The DECK; I appreciate the creative aspect that this job has to offer. I also admire how The DECK supports startups and small businesses. I look forward to utilizing the FAB studio and learning how to use the different printers and machines!
