Casual Japanese workshop on August 7th
Japanese textbooks don’t teach you how to say “WTF?!”
But we will.
Have you ever overheard conversation at a local spot and wish you knew what they were saying? When you speak Japanese, are you unable to express yourself in the way that you want? Do you want to go beyond textbook language and speak like a local?
On August 7th at 4pm, join us for a fun and fast 30-minute crash course on real, street-level Japanese expressions and slang you’ll actually hear from locals, led by our native speaker staff.
A sneak peak into what you’ll learn:
How “Yabai” can mean “awesome,” “awful,” or just “whoa”
The legendary Kansai phrase “Nandeyanen!” and how to throw it into conversation like a bona fide Osakan
The mysterious “Shiran kedo” — the ultimate casual disclaimer
A sneak peek into Japanese humor and ‘tsukkomi’ culture
At The DECK, we bring together digital nomads, entrepreneurs, and creators from all over the world. For our long-term members, who stay in Osaka for weeks or months, textbook & tourist Japanese is serviceable, but we often hear from them:
“I’m able to communicate, but I want to go beyond. I want to know casual and everyday phrases!”
That’s why we created this mini language & culture session — to be casual, useful, and fun.
Cost:
Free for The DECK members
¥1000 for non-members
What’s included:
