Beyond the Guidebooks: Your Ultimate Itinerary for the "Deep Osaka" Culture Journey!
Are you ready to step away from the neon lights and experience the real Japan?
As the main event of the Digital Nomad Week Osaka 2026 Spring, we are hosting the "Local Tram Ride & Deep Osaka Culture Journey" on Thursday, April 9th.
You might be wondering: "A traditional blacksmith? A retro tram? A Kominka? What exactly are we going to do?" We get it. This isn't your typical sightseeing tour—it's a deep cultural immersion. To show you exactly what to expect, we are thrilled to reveal the full Itinerary for this unforgettable day!
Here is how we will step back in time together:
🚋 1. The Time-Slip: Riding the Retro Tram
Our journey begins in the afternoon. We will leave the modern skyscrapers behind and hop on the Hankai Tramway—Osaka's only surviving nostalgic streetcar. As we rattle through the local neighborhoods, you will feel like you've slipped back in time. Our destination is Sakai City, a historical merchant town famous as the birthplace of the Tea Ceremony master Sen no Rikyu, and home to the world’s finest blade makers.
Once we arrive at the station, let’s head straight to meet Genki, our host for this trip. He’s the owner of a café housed in a traditional Japanese house. Our base camp for this trip will be his “Anywhere Café.”
🗡️ 2. The Art of Fire & Iron: Inside a Traditional Blacksmith
Upon arriving in Sakai, we will step inside an authentic, generations-old blacksmith workshop. You will feel the intense heat of the forge and watch the sparks fly as master craftsmen hammer glowing steel. The highlight? We will meet a French craftsman who was so captivated by Sakai’s knife-making that he dedicated his life to mastering this Japanese art. His cross-cultural journey is guaranteed to bring massive inspiration to our global nomad community!
🍚 3. The Kominka Experience: Kamado Cooking
As the sun begins to set, we will head to "anywhere café", a beautifully restored Kominka (traditional Japanese folk house). Forget pushing a button on a rice cooker. Here, we will work together to chop firewood, build a fire, and cook rice the old-school way using a traditional Kamado (wood-fired stove). The scent of the burning wood, the rising steam, and the taste of freshly cooked rice you made with your own hands... it will be the best dinner you’ve ever had.
🎶 4. Sanshin Live Music & The Ultimate Banquet
And then, the grand finale! Our incredible host, Genki, will bring out his Sanshin (a traditional Okinawan 3-stringed instrument) for a live performance. You will also give participants a lesson on how to play the sanshin. Please take this opportunity to experience Japanese instruments and music.Picture this: Sitting on tatami mats, eating delicious local food, drinking, laughing, and singing along to the acoustic music with your new nomad family. This is the ultimate form of Japanese networking—"eating from the same pot" to build lifelong trust and friendships.
For the after-party, we’ll head to a bar near the traditional Japanese-style café. In the evening, Genki’s friends will gather to put on a live sanshin performance. There’s also karaoke, so everyone can sing and dance on stage♫
Why is this our "Main Event"?
This day is designed to transform Osaka from just another "travel destination" into your true "home base." By immersing yourself in the local culture, cooking together, and sharing stories, you will forge connections that go far beyond the surface level.
Join us for a magical journey you will never find in a guidebook. Because we are hosting this in an intimate traditional house, capacity is strictly limited. This will be a small, tight-knit group experience.
Do not miss out on the highlight of the week. Grab your ticket now and let's make history together!
